More on National Hug Your Cat Day vs. Hug Your Kids Day

I just told my sister, the one with the PhD in Engineering, about how National Hug Your Cat Day was much more popular – for now! – than National Hug Your Kids Day. What could she do but laugh with me?She has a cat, and she likes her cat, but she couldn’t imagine hugging it.

As we ended our chat, I said, “Now go hug your cat.” She pointed out that that was, quite possibly, the meanest thing I could say to someone, because if you hug 99/100 cats, they’d scratch or claw you, at least. They’d squirm out of your arms for sure. We laughed again.

What do you think? Is telling someone “Go hug your cat” mean?  Comment below.
